ESTEVE WINS FIRST PRIZE OF THE UNIVERSITY - BUSINESS CHALLENGE CONTEST

The project Chronic Eye Pain, prepared by ESTEVE in collaboration with the University of Valladolid, has won first prize of the University – Business Challenge contest (2016-2017). Every year, these prizes are awarded to the best R&D&I initiatives launched in collaboration with companies.

The prize acknowledges the initiative launched by ESTEVE and the Eye Surface Group of the University Institute for Applied Ophthalmobiology of the University of Valladolid, devoted to the clinical and molecular characterization of patients with chronic eye pain.

The University – Business Challenge award was accepted by Sebastián Videla, a clinical research physician at ESTEVE, in an event attended by Education Councilor Fernando Rey and Óscar Calleja, regional director of Banco de Santander in Castile-Leon, together with the dean of the University of Burgos and Valladolid and the dean of the 'Miguel de Cervantes' European University (UEMC), Imelda Rodríguez, as well as with responsible persons from another six universities of Castile-Leon.

These awards, promoted by the Universities and Higher Education Foundation of Castile-Leon and by the Banco de Santander (through Santander Universities), foster the conduction of R&D&I projects in collaboration with companies to meet scientific-technological needs previously identified by the business sector.

The University – Business Challenge contest is part of Measure 6 of the University-Business Knowledge Transfer Plan 2015-2017 developed by the Department of Education of the Governing Council of Castile-Leon and the eight Castilian-Leonese physical universities in the framework of the "Regional Strategy of Research and Innovation for Smart Specialization of Castile-Leon (RIS3)" for the period 2014-2020.
