ESTEVE has launched the calls to the VI Edition of the "United by Patient Care" Awards, with a novelty: this year, it also includes ESTEVE's "Chronic Patient Care" Health Innovation Grant. The purpose of both initiatives is to acknowledge the tasks healthcare providers develop to improve patient care and patient communication, and their innovation in chronicity. Registration is open until 15 February 2016 to all healthcare providers and entities or associations developing their activities in Spain and wishing to opt to these awards.

The ESTEVE Awards, called on a biennial basis since 2004, reach their sixth edition this year and attempt to acknowledge, disseminate and award the most outstanding initiatives developed by healthcare providers who contribute to develop the doctor-patient relationship -that is, to improve patient care. Also, the purpose of these awards is to ascertain the reality of healthcare through the calls applications.

For its part, the main purpose of the ESTEVE Grant is to improve the chronic patient's quality of life and to promote healthy lifestyles likely to contribute to prevent chronic non-communicable diseases. It also aims at fostering and facilitating innovation among professionals, encouraging multidisciplinary participation of all agents in the system, coordinating the different healthcare levels, and promoting research, training and knowledge management. All in the area of chronicity.
The ESTEVE Awards will have 1 winner and 2 runners-up in each area: Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Nursing. The winning projects will receive a 10,000 Euro prize and a commemorative bronze sculpture made by artist Marcel Martí. Runners-up will receive a 1,000 Euro prize and a certificate of merit.

In respect of the ESTEVE Grant, the jury will elect one single winning project among those submitted in the four thematic areas called: Adequation – treatment optimization, Therapeutic Inertia, Adherence to Treatment, and Self-Care. The winner will receive a maximum amount of 10,000 Euros.

Both the ESTEVE Awards and the ESTEVE Grant will particularly assess the projects involving a differential advantage as compared to routine practice in the health sector, outstanding for their high social impact and their continuity, and achieving long-lasting, tangible changes in the patients' living conditions. Regarding the ESTEVE Awards, the jury will prioritize completed initiatives or ongoing initiatives with results.

Regarding the ESTEVE Grant, scientific-technical quality, teamwork promotion, and multidisciplinary collaboration in innovation projects relating to non-communicable chronic diseases, will also be assessed.

The Award and Grant juries will be formed by eminent healthcare professionals, patient representatives, and specialized media. Each area will have its own independent jury.

Registration open until 15 February 2016

The names of the winners of this edition will be revealed at the award ceremony, to be organized by ESTEVE in May 2016. The deadline for submitting projects is 15 February 2016 and registration is open to all healthcare professionals -either individuals or teams- and all legal entities (residences, public or private healthcare institutions, teaching centers, etc.) working in the Spanish territory.
