Ewald Walgenbach studied Genetics/Biochemistry in Cologne and holds a PhD from Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding.

He started his career at BCG in Düsseldorf working mostly for pharmaceutical companies. After being responsible for the Chemicals division of Boehringer Ingelheim he joined Bertelsmann for 14 years where he was a member of the Executive Board.

In 2008 he joined BC Partners where he stayed as a partner for 12 years. His focus was on Health Care deals.

Today he is chairman of the Board of Aenova, member of the Board of Springer Nature and joined ESTEVE‘s Board of Directors in November 2023.
