ESTEVE, the global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Barcelona, has been certified as a B Corp company for its commitment to generating a positive impact on society and the environment beyond economic profit, as well as for building a sustainable future.
Obtaining this international Certification is a recognition of the healthcare group's solid ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) strategy, which aims to significantly contribute to global well-being through strong governance. As stated by Staffan Schüberg, Chief Executive Officer of ESTEVE: "Beyond reflecting who we are and what we do, the B Corp Certification is a clear demonstration that our purpose goes beyond economic benefit and that the 2,000 people who are part of ESTEVE work to generate a positive impact on society and the environment, guided by our purpose of improving people's lives." In short, Schüberg considers that, "it is clear proof that we are doing things the right way".
The company has demonstrated to meet the high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and corporate responsibility set by B Lab, the nonprofit organization that leads and manages the B Corp movement and the certification. Among the initiatives evaluated, the following stand out: in the environmental scope, the Net Zero Project, aimed to achieve a total balance between greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated and those removed, reaching a net climate impact before 2050. In 2024, ESTEVE managed to reduce its carbon footprint by 5.8% compared to the previous year, and by 10.41% cumulatively compared to 2022. In addition, 100% of the electricity currently purchased by the company comes from renewable sources, reaffirming its commitment to a sustainable energy model.
In the social field, ESTEVE's commitment to people and wellbeing is reflected in its internal Be Wellness program, designed to promote self-care and comprehensive wellbeing among its teams.
At the same time, the company promotes various actions to generate a positive impact on society, such as the global corporate volunteering program and collaborations with organizations that promote access to healthcare and essential goods.
In terms of governance, its Integrated Annual Report periodically reinforces ESTEVE's commitment to transparency and accountability, while the double materiality analysis fosters dialogue with stakeholders and enables the creation of an ESG strategy that responds to the needs of ESTEVE, of all the people and companies that collaborate with the organization, of society and of the planet.
The Certification has been possible thanks to the dedication, for more than a year and a half, of a multidisciplinary team of 50 people, as well as to the clear support of both the Board of Directors and Executive Management.
